Ethnic Music Performance titled Merajut Nada Nusantara #3 is a lecturer's work title performance held virtually through a youtube account ISI Yogyakarta. Merajut Nada Nusantara #3 featured six repertoires from three composers. First, Drs. Sukoco, M.Hum. presented a piece entitled “Dendang Betawi”, an arrangement of Dayung Sampan and Ondel-ondel songs. This work is a combination of rhyming dendang, with deep meaning that manifests the musical harmony in the song. Secondly, Drs. Haryanto, M.Ed. presented a piece entitled “Pelangi”. This work is a reflection of the experience of exploring sound in Kalimantan, a musical record recording the colorful musical culture in Kalimantan. The work entitled Pelangi is presented nicely in a musical packaging karungut Central Kalimantan. Drs. Supriyadi, M.Hum presented four repertoires of ethnic music performed with keroncong dangdut nuances. Among the works performed was “Astungkara”, a retirement melody containing messages and prayers for ISI Yogyakarta. The next work entitled Langgam Etnomusikologi is a song that reflects the identity of the Department of Ethnomusicology ISI Yogyakarta, followed by a work entitled “Kapilut” which contains a cradle of admiration between disputes and peace that occurs in humans. The last work entitled “Katanya” is a multi-interpretive critical note of the application of the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka curriculum.
Dr. I Nyoman Cau Arsana as chairman of the Department of Ethnomusicology explained that this performance was the umpteenth activity organized by the Department of Ethnomusicolgy ISI Yogyakarta. This performance is an application of one of the darma of the Tri Dharma of higher education in the form of works of art. On the other hand, this performance is a form of application about education. The Department of Ethnomusicology ISI Yogyakarta basically focuses on the realm of research on ethnic music in the archipelago and the world, but also does not forget the creative aspects of creating works of art, knowledge, and skills in playing ethnic musical instruments. So, between research and work to support the sharpness of research analysis is expected to be realized.
This occasion is also a historical record for the Department of Ethnomusicology, where one of the composers, Drs. Supriyadi, M.Hum, has retired since May 01, 2022 after serving approximately 41 years at ISI Yogyakarta. Our gratitude goes to Mr. Drs. Supriyadi, M.Hum. for his devotion so far in educating and producing art people and ethnomusicologists in Indonesia. The hope of this performance is that it can be an appreciation for the community of Indonesian ethnic music lovers, as well as a vehicle for appreciation to know, understand and love the values of Indonesian local culture.
