By: M. Yoga Supeno and Hariyanto

Monday, July 11, 2022, the deployment of the Arts Development and Development Program (P3WILSEN) by LPM ISI Yogyakarta was held at the Gading Playen Gunungkidul Village office. The deployment activity was led directly by Mr. Edy Subagya Riyadi, S.IP. from LPM ISI Yogyakarta and received by the Head of Gading Village, Mr. Suyanto. Lecturers involved in the P3WILSEN program in Gading village are M. Yoga Supeno, M.Sn from the Department of Ethnomusicology and Hariyanto, M.Hum from the Department of Pedalangan FSP ISI Yogyakarta. The students involved came from across arts disciplines including Ria Setiawan (Ethnomusicology), I Gede Mei Sutrisna Yasa (Ethnomusicology), Ananda Rizki Nugraha (Pedalangan), Alfirahma Astia Putri (Dance), Firda Adelia Pertiwi (Dance), and Ngatimin (Karawitan).

This program was carried out from July 11 and ended on August 12, 2022. The fostered groups are art groups from Gading Village, including gejog lesung “Nawang Sih”, dolanan anak “Gandes Luwes”, jathilan “Sekar Kedaton”, Karawitan “Roso Laras”, dance group “Sekar Pertiwi”. P3 WILSEN activities in Gading Village aim to share insights in the field of performing arts, especially ethnomusicologists, dance, puppetry including musical aspects, choreography, pakeliran, governance and so on. The hope is that through this activity scientific insights into art will be built that can be negotiated with local treasures for the promotion of the arts in Gading Village.

P3 WILSEN is a vehicle for collaborative work between lecturers, students, and the community in an effort to preserve and develop the potential of local arts. This activity is a form of application of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education for the ISI Yogyakarta community in the form of community service. The contact between lecturers, students and the community of Gading Village can establish a synergistic partnership, thus it is very meaningful for the development of art. Universities get meaningful input for this collaboration because everything related to art in the community can be known in depth. Finally, it can draw conclusions on what steps should be taken in an effort to develop art in the community.

For the local government, it is hoped that by improving the quality of arts in the community with the P3WILSEN program, the local government will get significant positive benefits from improving the arts group in line with its goal of making a tourist area by optimizing local arts.
