This study aims to understand the saweran event that occurs in contemporary Sundanese society. The research was conducted by involved observation of a wedding ceremony that took place in Sundanese society living in the city. The nyawer or sawer event is carried out during the Sundanese traditional marriage ceremony after the marriage contract. This ceremony is equipped with symbolic objects that have ritual value such as incantations or rajah. Sawer, whose form of activity is the delivery of advice to the bride and groom through songs sung by the sawer with the art of mamaos as the means. Sawer or nyawer means splashing water, in accordance with the practice of the juru sawer who sprinkles the nyawer equipment as if splashing water on the bride and groom as well as to all those present and watching around them. This kind of event is called nyawer because it is done at panyaweran or taweuran or splash roof. Based on observations, it can be concluded that at this time there have been changes, both in terms of the place of performance, the time of implementation, the song material performed, and the sawer who performs it. Nevertheless, this sawer event is still being performed by the contemporary Sundanese community.
